Katsina, 3 August 2024 — The Katsina State Police Command has refuted a viral video circulating on social media, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), alleging that a police officer shot a colleague dead while trying to disperse protesters in Katsina.
Commissioner of Police AA Musa, emphasized, "No loss of life recorded in Katsina during protest; let's prioritise accuracy."
The command clarified that the video in question, which shows a security agent lying motionless on the ground, has been manipulated and taken out of context. Contrary to the video's claims, no shooting incident occurred during the protest. The security agent shown is an officer of the NSCDC who fell from a patrol vehicle due to an accident at the protest scene. He was immediately taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina, where he was treated and discharged.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), urged the public to disregard this misinformation and verify information through official channels. He also reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the police and other security agencies in the state to maintain public safety, order, and professionalism in their duties. The command remains committed to ensuring peace and stability in Katsina State.
